Ciara's AlbumGoodies Lyrics
The title song of Ciara's debut is not only the ultimate party anthem of the summer, but it's one of the best singles of the year. This jam has been Number One for over a month, and not without good reason: an infectious chorus, a crunked up groove, and production from Lil' Jon (who did Usher's "Yeah!"), currently one of the hottest producers in hip hop. Sadly, you're not going to find anything else on "Goodies" that will top that single. Tracks like "1, 2 Step" and "Thug Style" are obvious fillers, though others like "Pick Up the Phone" and "Lookin' at You" are decent, if unspectacular, slices of hip hop flavored r&b. But the better cuts are the R. Kelly-penned ballad "Next to You" and "Ooh Baby" which are memorable and make the best use of Ciara's limited vocal range. Beyond the red-hot title song, "Goodies" is standard, radio-friendly r&b with a few nice touches. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a 6. It's flawed, but Ciara has some promise. Ciara's Goodies surprised me and it's one of the best albums I have listened to all years. It's not just R&B, according to an insert I received with my album, it's cRunk & B, a hybrid of the two forms of music. The album opens up with "Goodies" featuring Petey Pablo and is featured by the uptempo song "1-2 Step" featuring Missy. This is a real cool song with a crazy bridge, produced by Jazze Pha of course. The next song, "Thugstyle" slows it down a little but it's still something you can ride too. The album is filled with potential hit singles, but one of my favorites is the song, "Pick Up The Phone," another song with a crazy beat. The Ludacris featured song, "Oh," also is off the hook. Whether you like the song "Goodies" or not, please check out this album. T.I. appears on the "Goodies" remix but he doesn't do as much for the song as Petey Pablo did. Other cool songs include "Ooh Baby," and "Hotline," hey the whole album is fly and so is Ciara, so don't sleep on this album. I'm sure a lot of these young female singers will be picking up pointers from Ciara's album. An excellent album to listen to if you're into the Crunk 'n' B and R 'n' B genres. Ok, this is probably the second time that I've written a review for this CD. I heard it about 3 months ago, and hated it instantly. One reason why I hated it, is because I know true R&B when I hear it. This isn't R&B. This is just more Lil' Jon's fake Crunk music that is infiltrating the minds of teenagers my age and up, but thankfully, I have an ear for real music; and this sure ain't it. Even though the vocals may sound good to you when you listen to the CD, don't be fooled. Just listen to all of the songs on the CD; even the up tempo songs show that she isn't a good singer. Compare "Goodies" to Beyonce's "Naughty Girl". Beyonce's voice is beautiful on that dance song. Ciara's on the other hand is one step below terrible. The girl can dance, but it reminds me way too much of my girl Aaliyah. If you bought this CD, I suggest that you go to your local pawn shop and sell it. Spend it on some real R&B. I recommend Aaliyah, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Jill Scott, Usher, Anthony Hamilton, Fantasia, Ashanti, and Destiny's Child. Oh, speaking on the subject of Fantasia, Ciara is gonna get her but chewed up and spit out by Fantasia's mesmerizing vocals. And while I just also mentioned Ashanti, Ciara also looks like a fake one; she dances like Aaliyah, but is trying too hard [it seems] to look like Ashanti. No matter how hard she tries to look like Ashanti, she'll never have the talent that she possesses; and she's no where near Aaliyah. All of these "Doin' It" divas are out today, the combo of great vocals, great music, and great dancing, and then comes this horrible excuse for an R&B diva. Don't think so! JoJo, Joss Stone, Beyonce, Alicia, Jill, Ashanti, Christina Milian...I could go on all day about all the females in the game who will blow Ciara out in a singing contest. Ciara won't last; she's just the urban version of Britney Spears. Surprisingly, even Ms. Spears' popularity has lasted this long. Ciara better enjoy the success of "Goodies" because they're full of fake music that America is buying into. Ballads are what will make an artist last; the aforementioned artists have recorded and released many wonderful slow jams, winning Grammy Awards in the process, and showing some 4sho vocal skills. I definitely knew that Ciara couldn't sing when I saw her on the Source Awards. She sounded like a hot mess!!! And if I here Lil' Jon say anything else about Ciara being a Crunk&B recording artist (Crunk & Blues), I'd punch him is his ugly grill if I could. How dare he try to degrade the smooth style of R&B with this chick. He must be crazy. Him nor his stanky crunk music/artists will last. Every true R&B recording artist from Sam Cooke to Angie Stone ought to knock him out for that kinda trash. The only songs worth listening to here: "Goodies" - as we know, it became one of 2004's hottest singles; it's a great song, but Petey Pablo's presence wasn't needed. The song would've still been #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart for 8 weeks b/c Ciara is the real showcase here. "1, 2 Step" - another great Crunk follow-up to "Goodies". although, in my opinion, Missy Elliott's rap ruins the song, it wouldn't be as big a hit without her. "Ooh Baby" - Ciara isn't at all a good singer, but somehow she managed to record a song that she actually sounds good on; this is that song. "Goodies" [remix] - the song didn't get any better by making this remix, but it's still a highlight from this album; T.I.'s appearance does though give the song a more street edge. Jazze Pha's "Lil' Jon impressions" aren't needed. Source: Amazon.comGoodies Album Track List - tracklist:
